All the buildings are in bloom
\nnow the sun stays open
\nlonger than the workday.
\nAt sidewalk caf\u00e9s,
\nthe London lovelies diet,
\ntheir cigarettes garnishing
\nlakes of romaine. Knives cross,
\nthe latest fashion from Milan.
<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Talk is cheap\u2014
\nI should do some shopping. Instead,
\nI\u2019m calling tails and turning heads,
\na brick wall blowing down the street.
<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Then: taxi \/ turtle\u2026a stencilled sign.
\nThe door crawls to the end of its leash,
\nmy signature chained to the clipboard.
<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Twelve mistakes in the waiting room
\nmagazines: If you cant take a holiday,<\/em>
\ntake a kip. Paris cost extra at weekends.<\/em>

Poet's Statement: \"The Missed Period\" explores the friction between the extreme self-consciousness of a personal health crisis and a hyperawareness of everyone else's seemingly normal activities during that time. The language is deliberately disjointed and image-intense to create a sense of overwhelm.
