A reader of occult esoterica, he is also the author of ten books of poems, including <em>Of Thee I Sing<\/em>, selected by <em>Publishers Weekly<\/em> as a 2004 Book-of-the-Year; <em>Say Goodnight<\/em>, which received the 1998 PEN Open Book Margins Award; and <em>Vox Angelica<\/em>, which won the 1992 Poetry Society of America\u2019s Norma Farber First Book Award. Liu\u2019s poems have appeared in such places as <em>Best American Poetry<\/em>, <em>Bomb<\/em>, <em>Kenyon Review<\/em>, <em>The Nation<\/em>, <em>New American Writing<\/em>, <em>Paris Review<\/em>, <em>Ploughshares<\/em>, <em>Poetry<\/em>, <em>Pushcart Prize<\/em> and <em>Yale Review<\/em>. His journals and papers are archived in the Berg Collection at the New York Public Library.
