Our 2025 Poetry Book Contest results are below. Check back for 2026 guidelines early next year.

Please submit your manuscript (select Poetry Book Contest), pay your fee, and confirm receipt of submission using our Online Submission Manager. Our 2026 guidelines have been updated. June 30 deadline.

At least two books are chosen for publication each year and often more when possible. 

Individual poems from manuscripts have also been selected for publication in Barrow Street journal and /or our affiliated multi-genre journal the Ocean State Review.

John Murillo has chosen Pagan Era by Philip Schaefer as the winner of our 2025 Poetry Book Prize. The  Editors' Prize was awarded to Hurt Music by Genevieve Payne and Somewhere Horses by Jasmine Khaliq. These books will be available soon.

Send your submission for our upcoming issue through Submittable. Our reading period is from November 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.

There is a $3 charge per submission, or for a $14 charge, you may submit your poems AND receive a 1-year subscription to our annual journal. If you cannot meet this fee, please contact us at ckell.barrowstreet@gmail.com and we can discuss alternatives, such as a fee waiver.
