2023 Poetry Book Prize
Nathalie Handal will judge the 2023 Poetry Book Prize. Submissions for the poetry book prize are now closed. Thank you to all who submitted to the 2023 contest. We hope to make an announcement around mid-October this year.

2022 Barrow Street Book Prize Winner:
We are excited to announce that Emma Aylor's Close Red Water is the winner of this year's poetry book prize, chosen by contest judge Tina Chang. It will be published in fall 2023.
2023 Prose Book Contest

We are pleased to announce that Mary Cappello will judge the 2023 Barrow Street Prose Contest. We will announce a contest Winner and at least one Editor's Choice by the end of July!

Journal Submission Guidelines
Send your submission during the reading period by using our Online Submission Manager. The reading period is currently CLOSED. Submissions may be made for free from Dec. 1 until Dec. 15. Dec. 15-March 31, there is a $3 charge per submission, or for a $10 charge, you may submit your poems AND receive a 1-year subscription to our annual journal. Submit up to five manuscript pages. Name, address, and email should appear on each page. Submissions that exceed the maximum cannot be read.
Simultaneous submissions are OK, but please contact Managing Editor Michael Broek immediately at michaelbroek@barrowstreet.org if a poem is accepted elsewhere. Upload only one file containing your work with a brief cover letter. Response time is two to four months.
If your work is accepted for publication, you will be notified by the editors via email and will receive instructions about the pre-publication process. Barrow Street pays two contributors' copies.
